School Diy #2

Tomorrow school starts... school starts tomorrow...today is the last day of summer. I'm trying to help my brain out but it still is not kicking in. I just got back from senior trip at Sky Ranch. It was such a good experience. I had extremely low expectations knowing very little of the trip but expecting to be forced into other friend groups and drilled about leadership. It was not like this at all. They wanted us to expand our friendships but did not force it. The talks were about listening to the Lord's plan for our life this next year which if we are doing, will help us be a good leader in the end. Being able to hang out with people outside of school is something really cool and I had tons of fun.

Since school is tomorrow and I have time to blog I thought I would whip out this easy DIY for you all. I'm totally obsessed with these leather tassels that are everywhere. I almost bought one on Etsy for around $10 but then decided not to. I'm so glad I didn't because I made this one for free.

MATERIALS: Piece of leather, scissors, pencil, measuring tape, hot glue gun,

STEP 1: cut a piece of leather as long as you want the tassel to be
STEP 2: measure according to the length of the tassel how long you want the fringe to be.
STEP 3: draw a line in pencil on the wrong side of the leather where you are going to cut the fringe up to
STEP 4: cut as much fringe as you want (for this 3 inch tassel I cut 2 inches of fringe.) (The longer the tassel the more fringe you need)
STEP 5: cut the last fringe off from the rest of your leather
STEP 6: (not photographed) cut a small strip of leather around the same size of a tassel for the top of the tassel so you can loop it on to other items
STEP 7: hot glue down your loop to the top of your tassel
STEP 8: tightly roll your tassel together as your use a small amount of glue only on the top
STEP 9:(optional) you can add pieces of fabric around top of tassel for decoration.
STEP 10: attach a metal ring to the loop and attach to key chain, backpack....

(My key chain tassel was 7 inches of fringe and around 5.5 inches long)

School DIY

School is right around the corner and this year I decided to do some fun DIY's with things I already had. I've been really trying to save money for future travel and with that comes sacrifices such as not buying the latest trendy school supplies you don't really need. So instead I looked on Pinterest and around websites for this school years hottest trends and made them myself! I spend $0 on this but then again I had all of these materials at my house. Get creative with what you have. Pinterest has awesome DIY's you just have to look for. Follow me there to see the latest DIYs I've pinned.

Today I am going to show you how to make the hugely popular tassels and pom poms. I have seen these everywhere and I'm so excited to be able to make them myself. You can add these to a number of things such as book marks, key chains, back pack zippers... They are super fast and easy to make once you get the hang of it. It does take practice.

 POM POM
Materials: yarn, fork, scissors
STEP ONE: Wrap yarn around fork until desired thickness (the more you wrap the more ball like and fluffy it will be).Once desired thickness has been reached cut yearn from the ball of yarn leaving some extra.
STEP TWO:  Tie the middle of the wrapped yarn super tight with another piece of yarn (Double knot) (you also might need to slide the yarn off the fork before really being able to do this step).
STEP THREE: Take yarn off fork
STEP FOUR: Cut all loops in half to make raw edge (make sure you get all of them they like to hide
STEP FIVE: Fluff yarn to make a ball
STEP SIX: trim ends to be even and to make a more ball look (takes a while)

TASSEL
Materials: Friendship bracelet string, credit card, scissors
STEP ONE: Wrap string around credit card long or short ways depending on desired length
STEP TWO: Slide yarn of card and tie and knot at one end (leave the ends of your knot long)
STEP THREE: Wrap yarn around top of tassel
STEP FOUR: Cut the end of the tassel loops to make raw ends
STEP FIVE: Trim ends to make even lengths
STEP SIX: You can also braid together the top of the tassel for a chain look. Also trim away the unnecessary strings

TASSEL (way 2)
If you have this type of sting you can simply tie the string together in the middle.
Cut the end loops,
wrap string at the top of the tassel

Flower Crown DIY

As you know I did a post awhile ago on how to make a flower headband. Though I do really like that headband what I have seen recently is big flower crowns. They are gracing tons of magazines like teen vogue. They are all over tumbler and weheartit. Today I am going to show you to make one. It is very simple and takes very few tools.

{What You Will Need}
  • A bouquet of fake flowers (I got mine at Michael's)
  • A hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • A headband

 1.

 2.

1. First you want to cut off the little green stems off of the flowers

2. next you want to lay out your flowers around you headband and choose how you want them and how to space them

3. Lastly just glue on one flower at a time and you done!

I love this headband I think it looks really earthy and it is definitely high fashion right now!

Flower headband DIY

I hace seen this headband in my magazines a lot lately and I saw a video on how to make it so I made one, and now I am showing you how to do it yourself!

what you will need:
a headband closes to your hair color
paper flowers
sequins
hot glue gun

my flowers were really boring so I added some sequins to the middle this is optional.

Next laid out my flowers how I wanted them to go on.

so it turns out that I am not very good at spacing things oh well!

what it looks like!

I think it is really cute and refreshing for the spring time and it is defiantly on trend!

Bunny Ear Scrunchies

You can buy these cute bunny ear scrunches or bun headbands at top shop for about 8$ or you can keep reading and find out how to make them yourself!
What you will need:
fabric
scissors
elastic
sewing machine or fabric glue
push pins
marker

cut a peace 15 inches by 2 /12 inches wide

next fold it in half the long way with the right sides together

if you are sewing pin it throughout

next sew it
when you are done sewing it turn it so the pattern is facing out

next cut a rectangle 12 inches long by 5 inches wide

next fold it upward with ride sides together

next fold it again from the left to the right side
now you will want to draw a kind of leaf shape on your fabric

fold it in half with right side together and pin it. make sure you do not sew where my fingers are

when you are done sewing turn the fabric so the pattern is facing outward. next sew that opening up.

now cut a piece of elastic that is about 8 inches long

feed the elastic in the long tube

sew the elastic together

then sew the fabric shut

now tie on your ears and there you go!

does this make no sense? well if so you can click here to see how to do it.
I love these scrunches they are so cute. they do take patients and if you want to use glue then just glue when I said sew!
