School DIY

School is right around the corner and this year I decided to do some fun DIY's with things I already had. I've been really trying to save money for future travel and with that comes sacrifices such as not buying the latest trendy school supplies you don't really need. So instead I looked on Pinterest and around websites for this school years hottest trends and made them myself! I spend $0 on this but then again I had all of these materials at my house. Get creative with what you have. Pinterest has awesome DIY's you just have to look for. Follow me there to see the latest DIYs I've pinned.

Today I am going to show you how to make the hugely popular tassels and pom poms. I have seen these everywhere and I'm so excited to be able to make them myself. You can add these to a number of things such as book marks, key chains, back pack zippers... They are super fast and easy to make once you get the hang of it. It does take practice.

 POM POM
Materials: yarn, fork, scissors
STEP ONE: Wrap yarn around fork until desired thickness (the more you wrap the more ball like and fluffy it will be).Once desired thickness has been reached cut yearn from the ball of yarn leaving some extra.
STEP TWO:  Tie the middle of the wrapped yarn super tight with another piece of yarn (Double knot) (you also might need to slide the yarn off the fork before really being able to do this step).
STEP THREE: Take yarn off fork
STEP FOUR: Cut all loops in half to make raw edge (make sure you get all of them they like to hide
STEP FIVE: Fluff yarn to make a ball
STEP SIX: trim ends to be even and to make a more ball look (takes a while)

TASSEL
Materials: Friendship bracelet string, credit card, scissors
STEP ONE: Wrap string around credit card long or short ways depending on desired length
STEP TWO: Slide yarn of card and tie and knot at one end (leave the ends of your knot long)
STEP THREE: Wrap yarn around top of tassel
STEP FOUR: Cut the end of the tassel loops to make raw ends
STEP FIVE: Trim ends to make even lengths
STEP SIX: You can also braid together the top of the tassel for a chain look. Also trim away the unnecessary strings

TASSEL (way 2)
If you have this type of sting you can simply tie the string together in the middle.
Cut the end loops,
wrap string at the top of the tassel
