Mural Madness

This Friday we were out of school for Thanksgiving. Despite the weather being windy and cold, I was ready for an adventure. My town has been popping up with beautiful murals around downtown. I thought it would be fun to find as many as we could and take pictures. I know, the people I was accompanied by are beautiful humans.

I like to call my outfit a "70s grunge inspired look". I found these classic Levi's at the Goodwill. I call them my mom jeans for good reason. I paired them with a simple grey Gap t-shirt and a jean jacket to add a 90s flare. My leopard flats add a more modern twist to the outfit. Then my hair throws you right back to the 70s. I've been embracing the more relaxed natural look. No makeup, Goodwill clothes, and caring less. Stepping into senior year made me realize how much time and energy one could take to please others. I didn't want to live my life for others approval, only the Lords and he already thinks I'm beautiful. That isn't to say I'm not wearing makeup in these photos...because I am. Some times it's nice to dress-up and make yourself a little more pretty. Priorities and the real reason my friend, that's the key.

Thoughts and Ideas running around my head senior year:

\\hmm sex trafficking that makes me mad what can i do about that?\\

\\drama? oh yeah it's only in your life if you let it.\\

\\anywhere you are in life right now is your mission field.\\

\\social media makes you jealous and compare yourself...so maybe you shouldn't be on it.\\

\\surround yourself with people who you want to become like.\\

\\family is awesome!\\

\\it is possible to have a truly Christ-center healthy relationship in high school.\\

\\mentors are awesome.\\

\\grades don't define me.\\

\\Leadership is lonely\\

God is so faithful.

Thrift Shopping

Hey Guys! So, my friend Alli is obsessed with thrift shopping. Half of her outfit in this photo is from the DAV. So who better to show me the ropes of turning second hand into something fresh and cute? Our goal in this thrift shopping endeavor was to purchase a 50s inspired dress to wear to an upcoming formal. We realize that most people will be wearing dresses that were made in this century but we wanted to wear something different and we are in love with the 50s style. Alli and I went to a total of 3 thrift shops before they all closed for the night. Enjoy these photos I snapped on our adventure and enjoy Alli's adorable face.

I'm thinking of doing an experiment with Alli where we got thrift shopping once a week for a few months and just search for treasures. I've heard of really cool things people find like elephant ivory and Kate spade purses. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see this.

I've also been in major cleaning mode and took a full black trash bag to the GoodWill full of clothes I don't wear anymore. With all this time in the summer this is the perfect time to go through your closet and donate what you don't wear.

Shoes in my school plaid? I think yes!!

Alli really liked this pajama set

No dressing rooms? No problem. We'll just change in the middle of the store over our clothes...

She needs this rain jacket

success!

photo for a horror film? or cute pic of Alli?
As you can see Alli and I had a ton of fun trying on many different dresses and items of clothing. We did purchase some dresses so come back to see what we end up wearing to the formal!

I'm Back!!!

I'm Back! The last time I posted was in October! I've been incredibly busy with school, cheer leading, the musical, and just being a junior girl. Two days ago was my 17th birthday! I can't believe when I started this blog I was 12 years of age. I remember when I was younger I couldn't wait to be 17 and be able to drive and be a big kid. Let me tell you, I still feel and act like a child.

Today, for my church outfit, instead of wearing something that said, "Hey I'm finally 17 and I'm almost an adult" I wanted to channel my inner preschooler. I think it's good to not take yourself too seriously and just wear what you want to wear.

I found some chicken salad

I am wearing a textured shirt from Loft. This shirt is actually longer but I taped it to make it cropped to go with the skirt. It's ok to wear a boxy shirt with a skirt as long as it's short enough. I paired the shirt with the dog skirt I made with my grandma in 7th grade. My shoes are from Delias which actually isn't even a store anymore.

My earrings I got from my friend Alli for my birthday. They are a good periwinkle color from Francesca's. I also have my favorite jean scrunchie from Walmart (guys were are bringing scrunchies back) and my Alex and Ani bracelet I got from my friend Ally for my birthday as well.

I threw my hair in a messy bun with some curls left out to give the outfit more youth. My lipstick is from the Sephora birthday gift from Marc Jacobs in the shade "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". The eye liner is also in the birthday Marc Jacobs pack.

If feels great to be back. The weather is wonderful, soccer has started, and spring is here. If you have any requests for blog posts leave them below! Also a big thanks to my cute little brother for taking these pictures for me love you!

Can we also talk about his crazy beautiful blue eyes?
