We arrived in Dublin on Thursday the 22nd and headed straight for our hostel... well, after grabbing coffee at the airport, meeting a traveler from Baylor/Berkley and seeing a Trinity alum. My first thoughts of Dublin were...seems like every other big European city, and where are all the Irish?
One of the only tourist experiences we paid for was the Jameson Distillery factory tour. It was amazing. The company took great lengths to teach the history in an engaging and graphically advanced way. I thought the whiskey was fine... Asa had other thoughts. I would for sure suggest this if you have a whiskey fan in the group. Buying online wasn't cheaper, but ensured we would have a spot when we arrived.
After the Jamison factory we explored the city along the river a bit and landed at Trinity bar for a bite to eat. The first day we clocked 6.7 miles.
Here's a photo I snapped from our hostel. I'm a huge fan of saving money and seeking discomfort, however this was another level. I have never had a worse night of sleep. Let me explain...I chose the mixed room with 16 other people, first mistake. We went to bed around 9:30, but would be soon woken up by lights being turned on, chatting, Netflix shows noise ect. I should have known with my supersonic hearing and light sleeping this wouldn't be a good situation. I had about had enough when at 2 am I was woken to the sound of someone munching on chips!! Absolutely not. I listened to a lot of Bethel "without words" music that night.
The next morning we grabbed a bite to eat then headed for Trinity college. I can't imagine going to school with so much tourism constantly. We managed to sneak into the long room to have a quick peak. Sorry Hale Library but you've got another thing coming.
Next we popped over to St. Patricks cathedral. Beautiful park spot, also do you notice those blue skies? I haven't seen rain yet...just saying.
Other side of road, stick shift, rental car, 22.... yup.
