This past summer I was in St. Louis living with my big sister Nevi and nannying for a family. It's the summer before my junior year of college and my sister and I are both single with flexible lifestyles. My thought was, I may never be able to live under the same roof as her again, so might as well go for it. It was a really good summer. I learned a lot about myself, my sister, kids, and community.
we were trying to recreate someone's beautiful photo... I was suppose to be the buff husband...

Things I learned Summer 2019:
I am more of an extrovert than I thought, I'm still quiet, not liking the center of attention, but I love a loud and busting house, that's what I'm used to and a quiet house makes me sad.
Being a parent is hard, especially to kids with ADHD, however structure, follow through, and repetition will make live so much easier.
God created community for us to grow in and I missed my Manhattan community. It was a good summer to not take Manhattan for granted.
I have so much to learn about racial reconciliation and the role I personally have and the church has in all of that.
Sacrificing to invest in family is always worth it.

Summer Journal
Since college I've realized that I am a creator, wether that's through knitting, art, sewing, or blogging I love to make things. While in college I have embraced a more minimalistic approach to life, however I think I lost the access to be free to have the random and not always necessary stuff around to create with.
This summer I watched a youtube video of someone creating a travel journal. I absolutely loved it and wanted to start with a summer journal to leave with the kids I nannied. I would love to say they helped me and this book is a collaboration but that wasn't the reality, I'm more of a controlled artist who has a clear idea that 7 year olds mess up.... (yikes).

I've decided to revamp this blog to capture my time overseas in Ireland for the fall semester! Next time I post I'll be at the University of College Cork just putzing around!
