My Hair Routine
In the past few years, due to growing up, I have been buying my own hair products, which gets really expensive. I drain conditioner like no buddy's business and am continually being persuaded to try another anti-frizz gel. In a recent wave of being inspired to live a more zero-waste lifestyle, I started to research package-less hair products. I started with a shampoo bar which to me seamed harmless enough for my hair. I did a lot of research and found that Lush shampoo bars are three times the amount that any artisan DIY shampoo bars on Etsy were.
I decided to take the plunge because I was running out of shampoo anyway. I found one that said it was for curly hair and went for it. It arrived very quickly accompanied by a few samples as well :). My hair really loves the shampoo bar so far. Some of the benefits I found online are that it's a softer detergent which means you don't have to use as much conditioner. I find this to be true. My hair is naturally dry and doesn't need shampooing often. I have been using half of the normal conditioner which is mind blowing to me. The shampoo bars are also much cheaper than regular shampoo because apparently they last much longer (we shall see). They are also great for travel.
They take some getting used to. When you use them it makes your hair feel kinda waxy and squeaky clean (still not sure why, more research to come). However, once I run some conditioner over it, my hair is fine. My hair never comes out looking waxy once it's dry so I guess you just have to get used to it feeling a bit different.
In conclusion, my hair has never looked this good. I am saving tons of money and having so much fun being in the kitchen more. The gel probably took 10 minutes to make and has lasted four weeks in the fridge so far. I would highly encourage you to try these things out.
I also decided to cut myself some bangs. My sister kept showing me pictures of a hair dresser who gives curly haired girls bangs. At first I thought they looked like sheep dogs but it started to grow on me. I'm well aware of the rule that "curly girls shouldn't have bags" something I said for a long time. But hey I'm 19 and it's summer so why not.
Here is my inspiration for chopping some bangs. After stalking her instagram and others, I decided "why not". I forgot the cardinal rule of cutting curly hair, which is "NEVER CUT IT WET!!". So I'm sure in two weeks they will be the perfect length. I'm obsessed with them in a bun. I think it's a look only curly girls can do with the crazy bun and hair in the face which makes it special.
Here is the shampoo bar that I bought. It was only $10.61 with shipping. Like I said I really like it and recommend to just give it a try.

BEST HAIR ROUTINE:
1. Wash hair with shampoo bar, really scrub, full on head massage
2. Condition hair and comb through
3. Flip hair over in shower and finger comb to separate curls
4. Put hair into hair turban for 10 minutes (put all hair in the base of turban then scrunch it up and clip, don't put the hair in long ways) {I know that makes no sense but I tried}
5. Make flax seed hair gel
6. Generously apply flax seed gel twirling strands of curls especially around face
7. Add a dollop of coconut oil to all hair mostly ends
8. Set up a fan by you bed
9. Lay on your back on your bed with your hair hanging down
10. Listen to a book on tape for as long as you have time
11. Once hair is completely dry de-crunch it by shaking hair out and messing with it from the roots
12. Enjoy freaking gorgeous hair for 3 days!!
See ya
