This weekend I had the privilege to go to retreat at my favorite camp with some of my favorite people. This year I started hanging out with Capernaum Young Life. It has truly changed my life and perspective on life. If you don't know Capernaum is a branch of Young Life that is for mentally challenged kids. To the world, these kids are seen as lower, stupid and not fully human. That is so wrong. The Lord knit these incredible kids in their mothers womb. Nothing the Lord has made has been by accident or a mistake. These are the most loving, happy, smart kids I have ever met. They welcomed me like no other group with open arms. And what is even cooler is I get to hang out with them with some of my best friends from school and church. This weekend was filled with Jesus, laughs, coffee, food, late nights, and lots and lots of love.

Of course I continued my challenge throughout the weekend and I have some fellow Dressember buddies with me. The phrase for the weekend was " You can do anything in a dress". And boy did we. From playing basketball, to jumping in a lake fully clothed in a dress, to running around the woods. Unfortunately no one asked me about why I was wearing a dress, I'm pretty sure they just thought I was some super conservative fancy chick. But it was a cool testament to myself to gain more perspective on modesty and sticking to something even if people give you weird looks.

The first day I wore my black jersey maxi dress with white socks and chacos and a big sweat shirt. I know I know the image of fashion haha. The second day I wore my black swing dress with tights, socks and chats

I encourage you to get involved in Capernaum or something like it. It will change your life. It will challenge you, make you uncomfortable but it will all be worth it. Don't brush these kids over they are incredible and have so much love to give if you only give them a chance. I didn't go into Capernaum with any experience with mentally challenged kids, I was scared and had no idea what to expect. I remember thinking as a freshman when a senior at school talked about "Oh that's definitely not for me" and here I am.
