Today I am wearing a dress my mom purchased for me in India on her recent trip with my dad. At first I wasn't sure how to style the dress but it has quickly grown on me. I love how Indian and Oriental is looks but still able to be worn around town. Because it is really cold I paired a black shirt underneath, some leggings, and my duck boots.

The last photo doesn't have any edits to show you the vibrant colors on this dress. I also love the elaborate prints on this dress and how unique it is.

Today I watched the documentary The True Cost. The documentary talks about where clothing is made and how it is made. There are a few issues they address. The first is the factories our clothing is made in and how dangerous they are for how little the workers are being paid. When we see a cheap shirt at Walmart and we think we are getting a great deal, the person who made that is barley being paid.

Because big companies in America want to sell Americas more things for cheaper because they are trying to convince us we need more stuff to be happy, the factory owners have to pay their workers less in order to get American's business.

Another issue is all the horrible chemicals and toxins used to grow cotton and to make clothing. These chemicals are killing people and hurting the environment.

And lastly, we need to stop buying things. The media and stores are telling us we NEED more and if we buy more at a cheaper price we will be richer and thus have a happier, better life. When in reality we are getting poorer and less happy. If we stopped being fulfilled in stuff and being less materialistic the stores would have to change how they market to the world.

I would highly recommend this movie. Again a bit graphic in just a few scenes. It has rocked my world and definitely changed how I view things. Because of this movie I have decided not to buy a new dress for Homecoming but wear my mothers dress she wore a long time ago to a ball.
