If you’re like me videos like this make me mad. They make me mad because of the injustice and the feeling of hopelessness. It made me sick thinking of someone my age and what they are forced to do. When I think of the devil doing work on earth I think of this. It is such a dark underground part of this earth and yet it is running rampant. These girls did not grow up saying “Hmm I want to be a prostitute when I get older”. I always feel stuck in a small high school in Kansas what could I do with all of these horrible facts? That’s when I heard about Dressember.

The point of this challenge is to wear a dress everywhere you go all of December to raise awareness. We are dressing modestly and feminine for the woman whos femininity has been defiled. It’s a strong message when you are working out at the gym in a dress and can be a huge conversation opener to raise awareness about sex trafficking. People are going to ask you what this about. I am only giving you a brief outline of the problem and what they are doing to solve it. I encourage you to do your research and find out what is going on.

Another reason for the challenge is to raise money. The Dressemeber organization is partnered with International Justice Mission. This mission stops the cycle of slavery by sending judges, prosecutors, social workers and police to stop the ring leaders and pimps. They work with the country’s government to snuff out the heads of these rings. They are also partnered with A21. They are similar to IJM but also provide education and safe houses for victims. So how will this work at Trinity my school? It has been approved for Trinity girls to wear a modest dress to school. In order to participate girls must donate $15 and they will recieve Dressember button. This button will tell teachers the girl is allowed to be out of uniform. All of the money raised for the buttons with go straight to the Dressember foundation which is working hard to end sex trafficking.

I mentioned all of this to my dear friend Lauren Page and she was my right hand woman. She went to meetings with me with the principle and spiritual life director. I'm so thankful for friends who share my passions.

I think it's so important to be a voice for the voiceless. These are my peers, my generation I am fighting for here. I love the idea of dressing up in general. I can't wait to bring you along my journey of wearing a dress for an entire month. I've decided to document everyday, what I wear and what conversation I was able to start/ the money I was able to raise because of this. Please check out the Dressember page, and check out the Trinity page which is quickly raising money! You could be apart of something great one dress at a time. I would love you support!

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
