This past year
I have had the privilege of writing for Splurge,
a local magazine. It's been a really cool opportunity and I’ve learned a lot
about writing. I’ve also had some great experiences, one of which was to tag
along behind the scenes of a Splurge
photo shoot. The crew uses local models from a model agency and showcases outfits
from local boutiques. While behind the scenes, I was able to talk with some of
the models. Here are some pictures I took of the models getting their hair and
makeup done:
After the
models were finished with their hair and makeup, they answered a few questions
for me. Some of them told me that's their favorite part of being a model,
feeling like a Barbie. “They just dress you up and make you feel all pretty.” All
of the models were very beautiful of course, as well as well-dressed and
poised. One of the models described being a model. She said you have to take lots of classes, be
well spoken, and give a good impression in interviews.
Sometimes
models have to climb up 20 foot ladders to get to the top of a roof just
for one photo! It was cool to see what goes on in a photo shoot and how many
people it takes for one photo, thousands of picture are taken but only one photo will make it into the magazine.
If you would
like to see the latest Splurge issue
with these models and my article, you can pick up a copy at the local grocery
store or you can look at it online. (http://splurgemag.com/)
