Now that you have a catchy name for your blog,
a functional layout, a creative design and solid content, it’s time to think
about getting your blog out to more readers. There are lots of ways to
self-advertise. Social media will be your best friend in this process. Millions
of people have social media: Facebook, Instagram, etc. Getting your blog
affiliated with it will help readers find you.
Advertise your blog by making social media
accounts for it. These sites could be a Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram
account. You can also join the web site called Bloglovin which is targeted
towards blogs. Try to make your user name the same as your blog name. That way
readers who look you up can find you easily.
Make your posts on social media consistent and
interesting without giving away the whole post. One way I do this on my
Instagram is to post a photo of just part of an outfit rather than the whole
thing. That way readers have to look at my blog to see the rest. Make sure you
give them both the name of your blog as well as a link to it. Make your posts consistent so the followers know
you take it seriously.
Making your blog more well-known comes with
time, loyal followers and good advertising, as well as collaboration. I love
doing collaborations with not only photographers but also other bloggers. It’s
fun to work with like-minded people, and it's great advertising for your blog
as others will link your blog on their website or social media. When you
find a blogger on Instagram or other social medias, that you would like to
collaborate with, send them an email.
Explain who you are and all about your blog, and politely ask them about
doing a collaboration. Schedule a time and place to meet and discuss what you
want to collaborate on.
Last but not least, build the person behind the
computer. As a reader I love looking at the "About Me" page and
learning more about the blogger and what he or she is interested in and how the
blog came about. You can do this in many different ways. Personal or anonymous,
the choice is up to you. As a fashion blogger I like modeling the
clothing I talk about. If you’re not comfortable with this, you could
always take pictures of your friends. I think that having a name and face
behind the brand makes readers feel a more personal touch, relatable, and more
likely to come back. Make sure that you regularly update your, "About
Me" page. The person behind the computer should be authentic to the person
in front of it.
Now that I have covered my three main topics I
hope that you can use things from all my advice. Remember: set your hook, put
the meat in your sandwich, and serve it in an appetizing manner (remember
garnish and presentation). I’m always glad to share what I’ve learned and I
hope you find it helpful. If you have any other question or just want to say hi
you can leave a comment below or email me at Bellativity@gmail.com.
