Kimono

Kimonos are a Japanese traditional garment. This spring the runways redid the garment to make it more wearable for everyday american life. These slouchy light weight sweaters have been hugely popular this summer. People wear them as a pool cover up or just as an extra layer for a summer night breeze.

Yesterday I went to the mall with my best friend. I picked up a few new things for my closet. One of them included a Kimono from the Bethany Mota clothing line at Areopostale. It was on sale from $34 to only $14. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it was at the original price but since it was so cheap and I've been wanting to get one for so long I thought I might as well.

The only size they had left was a large. Normally I would be a small in anything I buy. But since a kimono is suppose to be very slouchy and big I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

The print is a really beautiful kind of pastel color pallet. The pattern is more flower like but they call it a geo print. What that means, I have no idea. The material is actually cotton and not silk or chiffon like most kimonos are. This makes it a little less breezy but that's ok.

I am planning on wearing this today (it's only 9 am right now so I haven't gotten dressed for the day). I will take a photo shoot of how I style my new kimono. I'm thinking probably some jean shorts with sandals and a solid top. I'm really excited to start wearing these and I can't wait to show you.

What do you think of the new wildly popular trend? Let me know in the comments below! I love seeing comments so feel free to leave a few!
