Not So Normal Formal

The day is here! The formal has come. Alli and I went and had a blast perfecting our running man challenge and begging the DJ to play Celebrate. I've gone to this dance every year since 8th grade and it continues to be fun. Now on to the dresses we ended up wearing. The reason we wanted to wear 50's house wife dresses was inspired from a song we did for a school music production. We wore these dresses and fell in love with the flattering cut and cute length. We decided then and there we were going to wear these types of dresses to a dance. The 50's style was perfect for a curvy figure with a small waste. You didn't have to have these super long skinny legs like today. Everything about the 50's was feminine and flattering and I love it!

After searching high and low for a similar dress at the multiple thrift shops and purchasing a few dresses, we decided to go to our schools costume shop and just borrow the dresses. So no, (Zane mack) we did not wear thrift shop dresses but yes we did wear costume shop dresses which are basically the same thing if you think about it.

To add to the 50s vibe I wore my new chunk heels from Francesca's and my sister helped me with a retro pony tail. These shoes are my right hand and my go to in any outfit. They are super easy to walk in and relatively comfy.

I want you guys to never feel like you have to be like everyone else. Alli is the most unique, coolest, most original person I know and I love it! Yes we looked a little different last night but we had a blast and we loved it and that's all that matters. You do You!

Thrift Shopping

Hey Guys! So, my friend Alli is obsessed with thrift shopping. Half of her outfit in this photo is from the DAV. So who better to show me the ropes of turning second hand into something fresh and cute? Our goal in this thrift shopping endeavor was to purchase a 50s inspired dress to wear to an upcoming formal. We realize that most people will be wearing dresses that were made in this century but we wanted to wear something different and we are in love with the 50s style. Alli and I went to a total of 3 thrift shops before they all closed for the night. Enjoy these photos I snapped on our adventure and enjoy Alli's adorable face.

I'm thinking of doing an experiment with Alli where we got thrift shopping once a week for a few months and just search for treasures. I've heard of really cool things people find like elephant ivory and Kate spade purses. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see this.

I've also been in major cleaning mode and took a full black trash bag to the GoodWill full of clothes I don't wear anymore. With all this time in the summer this is the perfect time to go through your closet and donate what you don't wear.

Shoes in my school plaid? I think yes!!

Alli really liked this pajama set

No dressing rooms? No problem. We'll just change in the middle of the store over our clothes...

She needs this rain jacket

success!

photo for a horror film? or cute pic of Alli?
As you can see Alli and I had a ton of fun trying on many different dresses and items of clothing. We did purchase some dresses so come back to see what we end up wearing to the formal!

Junior Year

I'm two weeks away from being done with my junior year! Life has flown by but I'm ready to be done with junior year. Going to all of these grad parties recently has gotten me excited for college but alas, I still have another year.

This past school year has been the hardest academically, spiritually and emotionally. But, I have learned a lot, grown in my faith immensely and as a person and I'm stronger for it. I would not be here today with the outlook on this year and knowing my life was in control with out my amazing Savior and constant family support. They were my rock this year and I really learned to really appreciate them.

It's a well known fact that junior year is very difficult academically but wow you best believe that's true. Thank you physics teacher for all the tears I really love cleaning out my eye balls. Thank you history teacher for all the busy work, thanks ACT test for making no sense, thank you personal finance teacher... for well... yeah. thank you- well you get the point i should better stop now before I say something to get me in trouble. But in all sincerity I really had the best teachers this year who I really respect and look up to even if they stressed me out.

I made tons of memories this year and I wanted to share some of those with you. This is mostly for my fans (Zane Mack and Will Morris) who have been sad I haven't been posting and wanted our "Bellativity" photo on the blog. But I also wanted to go down memory lane because it's fun.

I got my first job working at a uniform store with one of my best friends. Alli and I got really close this year with basically having the same schedules. She's a dime.

I went through my second year of cheer and loved every second of it.

We were cave woman for goose chase at school which is basically a big scavenger hunt.

NHS

Barn dance with the babes

I became a small group leader with Julia

At church camp I successfully dumped a whole thing of cheerios on the ground...don't worry we didn't eat them. Yes it was wasteful I'm sorry.

I completed my second year leading worship at school with some of the best people that I know. It was a riot getting to know these people and creating hilarious inside jokes.

Homecoming was a blast!

Our Christmas attire. Yes Asa is wearing his famous snowflake suit

Our best friend Ally couldn't come to Homecoming so we made a fake homecoming in my barn
Prom with Daniel! Yes I wore a jumpsuit best decision of my life.

Another Prom picture just because

And here is "Bellativity" our legendary basketball team for field day. Let me tell you we won every single dang game we played in. won the whole tournament actually...

Earth day. We were hippies for a history project and loved it way too much

My second year playing soccer has been a blast. Some of the kindest most hard working people you will meet right here. We call this do-rags meets Britney Bras

The Lord really opened my eyes to so many truths about Him this year and grew me closer to him.
Here again is Bellativity sporting out A Little Knight Music shirts after the concert yesterday. If you spot Caleb in the back you will be truly blessed.

Another one for kicks and giggles because Will and I look good and Zane and Alli look....Well yeah..

Anyway I learned so much this year and made some incredibly memories with some amazing people!! Thanks everyone who is in my life and who makes me a better person everyday Love you guys!
